[zh-cn] WuXia Adventure-AAW LocJam Entry
Hello, everyone. This is our Simplified Chinese entry for Adventures from Another World LocJam. We hope you guys enjoy it.
Project Features
The original game contains many elements of American culture, both in pictures and language. We chose to localize it into a Xianxia (which is a genre of Chinese fantasy influenced by Chinese mythology, Taoism, Buddhism, Chinese martial arts, traditional Chinese medicine, Chinese folk religion, and other traditional Chinese elements.) style.
Image
We chose images with more traditional Chinese elements, such as a Jiangjun on the sand, a young girl with a sword, a female Jiangjun in armor, etc.
Similar to the source page, the first image of the localized page is chosen to be stitched together using four images. The title of the game has also been processed, with the text embedded in the image. In the bottom right corner of the title is the team name written in a small seal script, made in the style of a seal, which is also embedded in the picture.
In addition to the cover, for better perception, we processed other images into the transparent background.
The background image of the webpage uses some Chinese ink paintings, which retains the Chinese elements without affecting the reading.
You can view it in the “img” folder of the file package.
Please note that all the images are not for commercial use.
Translation
We had an interesting idea at the design stage. Since we are localizing this game and need to add some Chinese features, why not create a complete Chinese version of AAW? So, we chose Xianxia or Wuxia as our main style and gave the game a whole new look without harming the essence of a Fate game. The first thing we do was to give the game a new name. We didn’t want to simply translate it into “异世界大冒险” because that is too simple. Instead, we called it “九州奇遇”.
We know that some of the terms already have Chinese translations, but we don’t want to simply use them. Instead, we chose some words full of Chinese features to replace them. Some examples are listed below:
Troubles -- 劫数
Stunts -- 心法
GM -- 九州司命
Overcome -- 智取
Defend -- 御敌
The examples given in the game are all sci-fi or magical characters, so we also needed to change them to some Wuxia-style ones. We fully used the characteristic of Chinese and gave our examples with more beauty in structure. For example, the examples given in the Approaches section are all changed into characters whose names are consisted of four characters. We also designed their names carefully to provide literary artistry to the players. Check it out.
We used some famous Chinese Wuxia characters as examples in the content to make this game more adaptive to the Chinese market. We believe every Chinese player who reads this would give a knowing smile.
To help the readers understand the game, we made a lot of adjustments to the content. We converted some sentences and gave more examples to make them easier to understand.
HTML
About the font, choose “SourceHanSerif SC Regular” font for the body of the text, first-level title for “STXingkai” font, other level titles of the and game introduction part is “STXinwei” font.
About color, some of the colors on the source page are too bright and do not match the Xianxia style.
About webpage structure, we think that adding a table of contents page is more in line with reading habits, and clicking each title can jump to the corresponding position of the page, in addition, a button to return to the top of the page is added at the right end of the page.
Character sheet
The game involves a character sheet, so we also made a 九州奇遇 version which matches our game. The terms, logo and style are all changed into Wuxia style. Players who use our new sheet will have a better game experience. You can get the character sheet in the zip file you download.

Wow, that's quite a lot text to be translated. These are great work! I like the idea of localizing the whole story to a Wuxia or Xianxia theme. That's pretty impressive, not to mention that Wuxia or Xianxia is the absolute top IP in game industry. Salute to the team. :))
Great work! This game tells a fascinating story with a lot of Traditional Chinese elements. I would love to play this exciting game once it is launched. Kudos to the team!

The whole "Experimentation" section suddenly pales in comparison with this version!
